I wish The FORD Counselling and Psychotherapy Centre every support and success as it launches its re-branded image and name today.  These are difficult times for many people and many can feel lonely, scared, isolated or unsure about the future.

I encourage those who have something troubling them in their lives at this moment not to be afraid to contact the services of The Ford Centre who can reach out right now to provide telephone support until the threat of the COVID-19 virus passes.

Therapy has made a huge difference in my life. I was badly affected by a crippling gambling addiction from when I was 14 years of age. I had lots of failed attempts to stop, lots of false dawns, lots of times that I promised there would be no more gambling and no more lies and deceit, unfortunately I was never able to follow this through. Never, that was, until I received proper support, including counselling and psychotherapy. The counselling gave me the opportunity to delve deep into the reasons why I gambled, so not just the addiction but the emotions and feelings that lead me on that path. Once I began to deal with my insecurities, I began to really embrace recovery, counselling had allowed me to do that. That has stood to me in my 15 years of recovery since, it’s not that I just don’t gamble any more but I’ve can also lead a life that I am proud of.

I encourage people to engage in the unbelievable services being made available by The FORD Centre.

Thank you,

Oisín McConville
