Sex & Sexuality

An integral part of our lives

Sex and sexuality are an integral part of our lives and are often something we don’t talk about, even though sex gets a lot of coverage in different media outlets.  Sex is unique to each of us.  We all have our own experience of developing sexually in the world.  This can be a healthy experience for some, while for others it can be unhealthy, sometimes bringing a range of negative feelings including shame, isolation and self-hate.

How psychotherapy can help

Counselling/psychotherapy provides an opportunity to talk about sex in a safe environment, without any judgement whatsoever.  Issues covering sex and sexuality can be wide ranging, including, sexual difficulties in relationships, sexual orientation and identity, gender identity, sex addiction, lack of interest in sex and sexual abuse.

Reaching out for help

While some of these issues may necessitate the support of a medical professional most don’t and we at the Ford Counselling and Psychotherapy Centre can provide the emotional and psychological support at these difficult times.
