Psychotherapy for Life Change Issues

What are life change issues?

Change is constantly taking place around us and we don’t always have control over what is going on in our lives. It’s not unusual to experience an unwelcome change, but counselling/psychotherapy can help you adjust.

When a significant change happens in our life, sometimes we don’t want to accept it. Sometimes we resist change out of anxiety or fear of the unknown. But often, it is impossible to control the situation or reverse a change.

Instead, we must learn to adapt and transition, but for some people this can be a struggle.

Examples of life change issues

Some major life changes which people can find it difficult to adjust to include:

  • The loss of a loved one
  • Marriage
  • Having children
  • Divorce or separation
  • A new job
  • Going back to school
  • Retirement
  • The loss of a job
  • A life-changing illness

While we help members of the local community overcome many issues which come up after a major life changing event, if someone close to you has died, The FORD Counselling and Psychotherapy Centre has counsellors/psychotherapists who specialise in bereavement counselling.

How counselling can help

For those who are struggling to adjust to a major life change, counselling/psychotherapy can offer a safe space to discuss concerns and work through issues confidentially. Therapists are non-judgemental, compassionate and can often help people embrace changes and the challenges they bring.

Need help after a life changing event?

The FORD Counselling and Psychotherapy Centre offers a safe and confidential service to people dealing with all kinds of life change issues. Our professionally trained counsellors/psychotherapists can help you understand that change is a normal part of life. They’ll also assist you in developing skills to cope with big changes.
